May 9, 2014
Meeting called to order at 7:02pm
Walt DeVries, Kathy Gleason, Steve Herrema, John Holmes, Patrick Maioho, Brian O’Kane, Jerry Poisson, Don Reichle, Miles Underwood and Tom Wagenmaker.
Motion to accept the minutes of the April 19, 2014 Board Meeting as distributed and posted on the Association website (DeVries/Herrema). Motion carried.
Motion to accept the Treasurer’s Reports as presented (Holmes/DeVries). Motion passed.
Fireworks (Poisson): The deposit for the 2014 fireworks display has been sent to Wolverine.
Fun/Run (O’Kane): A new source for trophies is required as the store in Cedar Springs has closed shop. Baudville was recommended.
Dam Board (Holmes): The board will be installed on May 15 as per the State of Michigan ordinance.
Land Use & Development (Underwood): The Rollins have installed the tennis court nets. The area is scheduled for a general clean-up by this committee on May 10.
PLM (Maioho): Jamie at PLM has conveyed that the unusually cool spring weather has slowed the growth of non-native weeds. No sightings of milfoil at present and treatment has been rescheduled for May 19 due to weather.
Sewer Advisory (Underwood): In an effort to ensure that issues are rectified, Miles has asked that he receive a copy of all notices sent to violators for water softeners, garbage disposals, etc…
- Sewer Update: Miles reported that BWL has paid off all bonds for the sewer system. LWL (Little Whitefish Lake) contends that they too have paid off their bonds however the County cannot account for the majority of LWL funds. As BWL bonds have been paid off, future sewer billings sent to residents will be reduced to only the operating costs and maintenance. Miles and Pat Maioho will follow-up with the County for answers to the following questions: What is the current balance in the Sewer Fund for BWL? What is the breakdown of the new billing to residents (how much is for maintenance, how much for operating cost)? Bob Cichewicz will be asked to prepare a spreadsheet with the numbers that are known to him to present at the Spring Membership meeting. The board wishes to acknowledge the time and effort that Bob Cichewicz has made to ascertain the correctness of BWL’s participation and funding in the sewer system.
- Spring Membership Meeting: Patrick will ask the Township Supervisor to attend.
Meeting adjourned 8:16pm.
